Hazardous Waste Management Specialist
Job description
Provide technical expertise in hazardous waste management throughout the project lifecycle.
Contribute to the design, classification, treatment, and disposal components of HWM systems in compliance with international standards.
Support the development of strategies aligned with the Basel Convention and global classification protocols.
Offer guidance on the integration of Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Best Available Practices (BAP) in hazardous waste operations.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective and sustainable implementation of HWM systems.
Prepare analytical reports and technical documentation in English for internal and external audiences.
Qualifications
PhD in solid waste management, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, or equivalent field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a specialist in hazardous waste management (HWM).
In-depth knowledge of the Basel Convention and international waste classification standards.
Strong understanding of HWM classification systems, waste production, treatment methodologies, and disposal techniques.
Documented experience in the design and implementation of hazardous waste management systems.
Familiarity with Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Best Available Practices (BAP) for hazardous waste handling and treatment.
Excellent communication skills with strong analytical and reporting capabilities in English.
