Aninver wins first project with UNIDO
Aninver, in partnership with UNIDO, launches a new initiative in Belize to assess the Blue Economy and deliver strategic recommendations for sustainable, inclusive growth.

We are excited to announce a new technical assistance initiative led by Aninver Development Partners, in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). This project will deliver a comprehensive diagnostic of Belize’s Blue Economy, with the goal of informing future strategies, investments, and policymaking in the country.
Belize is advancing its efforts to harness the potential of its marine and coastal resources in a way that balances economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social inclusiveness. With UNIDO’s support, the Government of Belize aims to strengthen national institutions and design strategies that create competitiveness and long-term resilience.
What the project will do
Through this assignment, our team will:
- Conduct a situational assessment of Belize’s Blue Economy, mapping opportunities and constraints across fisheries, aquaculture, tourism, port operations, shipbuilding, and conservation zones.
- Identify policy gaps and investment bottlenecks, while highlighting high-potential value chains and sustainable practices.
- Deliver actionable recommendations to government and stakeholders, building a clear roadmap for inclusive and climate-resilient growth.
- Produce a final report and policy brief that consolidates findings and supports evidence-based decision-making
Building on our track record in the Caribbean
Aninver has a long-standing presence in the Caribbean region, with successful assignments ranging from community tourism projects in Jamaica to the Blue Economy Strategic Roadmap in Barbados. Our work in the region covers infrastructure, coastal tourism planning, renewable energy, digitalization, and public policy, reinforcing our reputation as a trusted partner for governments and development institutions.
Aninver’s role in the Blue Economy advisory space
This assignment builds on our recent collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Belize and further consolidates Aninver as one of the most active firms in the Blue Economy advisory space. From the Caribbean to West Africa, we help governments and development partners design evidence-based, investment-ready strategies that unlock the potential of the ocean.
Looking ahead
Over the coming months, we will engage closely with national stakeholders through workshops, interviews, and field visits, ensuring local ownership and relevance. Deliverables include an Inception Presentation (July 2025), a Midterm Presentation (August 2025), and a Final Report with sectoral case studies (September 2025).
Stay tuned as we share updates from this important journey to strengthen Belize’s Blue Economy and support sustainable, inclusive development.
