Aninver Development Partners, represented by Partner Álvaro de la Maza, took part in the IX Meeting of Spanish Tendering Companies, a flagship event organized by Andalucía TRADE and ICEX to strengthen the international presence of Spanish firms.
The panel, focused on tendering for Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), brought together practitioners who work daily on complex international bids.
Sharing a practical view on MDB bidding
During the session, Álvaro de la Maza outlined Aninver’s hands-on approach to MDB tenders:
how the firm positions itself in highly competitive processes, how it builds the right consortia, and how it manages the full bid cycle—from early opportunity screening to contract negotiation and delivery.
Rather than focusing on theory, the discussion highlighted what actually works in practice: understanding each institution’s priorities, tailoring technical proposals to client needs, and building strong, multidisciplinary teams that can deliver in demanding environments.
Learning from the strategies of other Spanish leaders
The event was also an opportunity to learn from the experience of other Spanish companies active in international development. On the panel, Aninver shared the stage with representatives from INERCO, ECOS Group, and GMV, each bringing a different angle on how to compete and win in multilateral markets.
Moderated by Mar Naranjo Suárez (Proexca – Gobierno de Canarias), the conversation covered topics such as:
how to manage risk in large, multi-country frameworks; how to build long-term relationships with MDBs; and how Spanish firms can collaborate rather than compete in certain strategic opportunities.
This exchange of perspectives provided a frank, practical view of the challenges and opportunities that Spanish consultancies and engineering firms face when bidding for MDB-financed projects around the world.
Reinforcing Aninver’s commitment to multilateral projects
Participation in this forum reinforces Aninver’s role as a specialized partner in multilateral projects, working with institutions such as the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and others across Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and beyond.
By sharing our own experience—and at the same time listening to how other leading firms approach MDB tenders—we continue to refine our strategy to deliver competitive, high-quality proposals and high-impact projects for our clients and partners.
