Aninver to Support Safer Infrastructure Delivery in India

Aninver Development Partners has been awarded a new contract by the World Bank to support the Occupational and Community Health and Safety (OHS/CHS) Platform in South Asia, with a focus on improving construction safety practices in India.

Aninver to Support Safer Infrastructure Delivery in India

At Aninver Development Partners, we are proud to announce a new milestone in our growing presence across Asia. We have been selected by The World Bank to lead a consultancy under its Occupational and Community Health and Safety (OHS/CHS) Platform in South Asia. This strategic assignment will focus on enhancing construction safety practices across infrastructure projects in India, furthering our mission to deliver impactful and inclusive development through practical, knowledge-based interventions.

A Regional Initiative to Safeguard Workers and Communities

The World Bank’s South Asia Regional (SAR) OHS/CHS Platform supports the implementation of the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), particularly Standards ESS2 and ESS4, across all phases of Bank-financed projects. These standards emphasize labor safety and community health, aiming to reduce workplace incidents and ensure safe conditions for both workers and surrounding communities.

Over the past decade, the region has witnessed significant challenges in managing occupational risks across infrastructure projects. This new engagement aims to address those challenges directly by providing practical, easy-to-implement tools for government agencies and their contractors.

What We Will Deliver

The assignment, to be conducted from May to July 2025, is structured in two phases. Our scope under Phase 1 includes:

  • Development of Practical Guidance Manuals tailored to the realities of construction projects in India, with a focus on general OHS and CHS measures.
  • Creation of Training Materials designed for direct use on-site by Project Implementation Units (PIUs), contractors, and workers—including posters, checklists, pictorial leaflets, and e-learning modules.
  • Stakeholder Engagement through field visits, interviews, and consultations with borrower agencies, contractors, and insurers to understand existing behaviors and compliance challenges.
  • Workshops and Knowledge Transfer, presenting draft materials to World Bank experts and clients, incorporating feedback, and building ownership among practitioners.

The tools will cover key hazards, communication with communities, institutional monitoring mechanisms, and sector-specific issues in urban infrastructure, roads, and buildings.

A Holistic Approach to OHS Knowledge and Practice

Our methodology combines desk research, on-site observation, and engagement with practitioners to ensure the content is actionable, locally relevant, and grounded in international best practices. The manuals will be supported by visual content and digital formats to maximize accessibility and reuse.

We will also prepare a complete e-learning course to accompany the training materials, providing long-term value for Bank staff, implementing agencies, and other stakeholders.

Strengthening Aninver’s Asia Strategy

This assignment is not only a technical consultancy—it also marks a key step in Aninver’s Asia expansion strategy. We have been steadily increasing our engagement in the region, and this project reflects the confidence of global institutions like the World Bank in our ability to deliver impactful knowledge solutions tailored to complex development contexts.

By working in close collaboration with Indian agencies and construction stakeholders, we are reinforcing our commitment to safe, inclusive, and sustainable infrastructure systems. Our practical innovation and results-focused approach continue to open doors for collaboration in South Asia and beyond.
