Construction Materials Value Chain Analysis in East African Community (EAC)
Description of project
The study examined the materials manufacturers in the construction value chain in the EAC region. The main objectives were to: 1) identify which construction materials are critical to the functioning of the construction value chain in the EAC region; 2) Amongst those identified, group them by those that can be competitively produced in the region and those that need to be imported, and 3) analyze bottlenecks and challenges that need to be addressed with regards to these input materials. The study examined the materials manufacturers in the construction value chain in the EAC region (mainly starting with construction materials identified as being critical to the value chain which could be high volume products and new products identified as having good potential to be produced in the region or imported for the proper functioning of the value chain).
