Interventory to the feasibility of the Meta river navigability PPP project
Description of project
The project focuses on enhancing the navigability of the Meta River, aiming to improve transportation efficiency and stimulate economic development in the region. It encompasses a comprehensive assessment of environmental, technical, and socioeconomic factors to ensure sustainable river management. The initiative involves detailed planning, risk evaluation, and the implementation of innovative solutions to address navigational challenges, ultimately facilitating smoother and more accessible river transport routes that are expected to boost local commerce and connectivity.
The Meta River is 1,100 km (680 mi) long and its drainage basin is 103,000 km2 (40,000 sq mi). The Meta divides the Colombian Llanos in two different parts: the western portion on the left bank is more humid, receives the relatively nutrient-rich sediments from the Andean mountain range.
