The Adaptation Fund (AF), housed within the World Bank Group, commissioned the development of standardized train-the-trainer instructional manuals to support its Readiness Programme. The assignment aimed to equip AF trainers with tools to deliver capacity-building workshops to accredited National Implementing Entities (NIEs) on completing project proposal templates for the Regular, Locally Led Adaptation (LLA), and Innovation funding windows. Manuals were designed in a modular format covering key sections such as Adaptation Reasoning, Environmental and Social Policy, Gender Policy, cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and alignment with the AF Results Framework.

Services provided

  • Prepared an inception report outlining the methodological approach and structure of each manual.
  • Developed comprehensive instructional training manuals in Word and PowerPoint format for the Regular, LLA, and Innovation funding windows, including case studies and interactive exercises (quizzes).
  • Incorporated iterative feedback from the AF Secretariat, NIEs, and subject matter experts.
  • Delivered final manuals in electronic and printable formats, in a modular and user-friendly design.
  • Conducted a Training-of-Trainers (ToT) orientation webinar for AF trainers.
