Description of project

The project, developed under the IDB-financed Technical Program for Sustainable and Inclusive Agricultural Innovation (PIASI), aims to strengthen agricultural assistance to family producers in rural areas of Panama’s Region 1 (Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí, and Ngöbe Buglé).

The initiative supports IDIAP’s PATA program to enhance productivity, climate resilience, food security, and income generation among smallholder farmers.

Its methodology includes training and follow-up of agricultural extension agents, the formulation of more than 1,600 participatory agricultural management plans, and the implementation of a Monitoring, Adjustment, and Learning Framework (MALF) that promotes adaptive management, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision-making. The project also provides coordination and operational support throughout implementation.
